Vaelastrasz guide

By Kazishicage

As my guild has finally cleared BWL, I thought I'd try and share some of my experience with you guys. This will not be a traditional guide, more like an event diary for each of the bosses and some of the trash pulls.

It is a work in progress, and all feedback is welcome.

Upenn community reddit

It is the way we do it in my guild and by no means a definate solution or approach to any of the encounters in the instance. Any feedback I find interesteing will be quoted in the guide itself at the appropriate place. Right, let's start. There are a few things you need to take care of before heading into Blackwing Lair. Find an endgame guild or try and build one yourself.

Trifilar coil winding

Get Molten Core on farm. Get attuned to BWL. Check this guide. Not needed from the get go, but start farming FR. You should have plenty if you have killed Ragnaros on a weekly basis.

Skyrim immersive weapons

Obviously these points are a quite obvious if you're already in BWL. My point is that Blackwing Lair for a while was the ultimate challenge in WoW and it's still a handfull to progress through.

You need a firm and dedicated guild to make fast progress, it's not something you go LFG'ing for. Razorgore the Untamed. The beginning of BWL is virtually trash free. The first room you enter is where you find the first boss, Razorgore. Now don't be fooled, he may be the first boss, but he is most definately not the easiest in BWL.

What will happen When you enter, the room is full of eggs.Vaelastrasz the Corrupt is a boss encounter found in the Blackrock Mountain adventure.

It is the second encounter of the adventure's fourth wing, Blackwing Lair. Note that the below classes are listed purely for reference, and have no effect on the boss' use of the cards in the encounter.

Vaelastrasz's Normal mode hero power Essence of the Red forces each player to draw two cards. He uses this to his advantage by milling both your cards and his own to use cards like Goblin SapperTwilight DrakeVolcanic DrakeMolten Giant and Clockwork Giantin which the cards in both hands and the number of minions died that turn matter.

On top of that, he uses Naturalize to cause you to reach fatigue and Gang Up to re-stock his deck to prevent himself from reaching fatigue. He also combos with his spells to attempt to remove your smaller minions and at the same time create some small minions to stall till both hands are full.

Primarily, you want to focus on the Demon type to synergize with your spells. DO NOT include any card draw mechanisms else you will fatigue. Rogue is also a very good class against Vaelastrasz. If you have Mountain Giants of your own, all the better. Beatable using mageuse a deck with low-cost spells. Then depending on the situation, try to keep Sorcerer's Apprentices and Flamewakers alive if possible and go for the face. Using this strategy, the boss is not able to utilize his desired tactic well and you should be able to overpower him.

Use Frost Novas after you lose your Taunts to prevent him from hitting your hero. Another class that deals with Vaelastrasz very well is hunter.

A fleet of low cost minions mana ensure pressure and damage. Explosive Trap and Hunter's Mark are cheap ways to clear Vaelastrasz's board, and Unleash the Hounds can deal lots of damage in short time. Burning Adrenaline. Play Alexstrasza. Vaelastrasz was once one of the good guys - a happy-go-lucky red dragon. Victor Nefarius used dark magic to corrupt him, forcing the ferocious red dragon to serve the Lord of Blackwing Lair against his will.

From Wowpedia :. Vaelastrasz is a member of the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza 's red dragonflight who fought against - and became enslaved by - the vile Nefarianson of Deathwingmaster of the black and chromatic dragonflights. He resides in Nefarian's citadel of Blackwing Lair and is the second boss of the raid, after Razorgore the Untamed.

Vaelastrasz is a red dragon. He is also known as Vaelan when he is in human form. He is initially a friendly NPC to the player, but eventually becomes a foe.Forgot your password?

This deck can be used to defeat Vaelastrasz on Normal Mode. It contains only Basic cards and relies on the strategy of playing an extremely low curve and relying on your opponent's Hero Power to provide you with the card draw you need.

Our deck costs 0 and it is made up of the following cards. Defeating Vaelastrasz on Normal Mode is fairly straightforward. By playing an extremely aggressive deck with a high damage output, you can take advantage of his Hero Power by letting it draw you into consistent pressure.

Vaelastrasz the Corrupt Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot

Since your deck is so low cost, you should find that Vaelastrasz's strategy backfires, and he actually ends up burning more of his own cards than he does of yours. You should generally ignore his minions and instead simply play the cards that deal the maximum amount of damage on each turn, while using Sap to return his big minions like Clockwork Giant to his hand.

This deck is presented to you by Sottlea professional Hearthstone player who plays for compLexity Gaming. Sottle regularly streams on Twitch and explains all of his moves. Gold Guide. Leveling Rewards.Though this is just the first boss of the raid, Razorgore and his arsenal of spells should not be underestimated. This fight takes place in two phases: the first under Mind Controland the second where the boss must be focused.

A large room filled with eggs separates the right platform, on which the boss can be found, and the left platform, which holds three orcs around an orb.

A tank must use the orb to Mind Control the boss for this entire phase. The boss uses a multitude of different spells to defend itself FireballCleaveWar Stomp and to destroy the eggs Warming Flames. Razorgore must survive the entire phase whilst the rest of the raid cares care of the arriving Orcs and Dragonkin. After the final egg explodes, Razorgore will enrage, sending Orc and Dragonkin alike flooding from the room and starting Phase 2.

Maddened by rage, the boss will automatically go to the tank controlling the orb. The entire raid will have to be as far as possible away from the boss and out of line of sight to avoid both War Stomp and Fireball Volley. Melee classes should stay behind the boss whereas off-tanks should position themselves on the flank of the boss to pick up the aggro as soon as the tank with the highest threat is hit by Conflagration.

Razorgore can't be taunted, so give your tanks plenty of time to build threat to avoid pulling aggro and wiping your entire raid.

Vaelastrasz the Corrupt

Like all dragons, the only players who should be in front of the boss are the tanks when it is their respective turn. This prevents other players being damaged with Cleave and Flame Breath.

You can also avoid taking damage from Tail Sweep by making sure no one is positioned directly behind the boss.

For the duration of the combat, all players will receive a 3 minute buff, Essence of the Redwhich continuously restores your mana, energy, and rage. This buff will allow you to spam your spells as much as you want without worrying about running out of mana. However, the boss will cast Burning Adrenaline on random targets, which will force the target to distance themselves far from the rage.

This damage can't be prevented by Ice Block or Divine Protection. Finally, pay close attention to your threat throughout the fight to prevent the un-tauntable Vaelastrasz from running though the room and breathing on the entire raid, even moreso when buffed by Burning Adrenaline.

The raid itself is quite linear, but actually making your way through it will the real challenge in itself.

Why is it important then? Because it gives you a convenient shortcut to access the entrance much quicker. Then again, you can always travel through the spire or wait for a summon from a friendly warlock. The first part is fairly simple, requiring you to kill the Scarshield Quartermaster. He can be found within Blackrock Mountain, just down the corridor on the right side of the entrance to Blackrock Spire.

Now for the hard part. You must kill him to receive the Mark of Drakkisath brand. Now anytime you want to enter Blackwing Lair, you can just use the Orb of Command next to where you killed the Scarshield Quartermaster earlier. Great job being a prepared raider! In addition, all raid members will need a significant amount of fire resistance.

Your tanks will need as much fire resist as they can possibly get, while your melee members should aim for about for rogues. Everyone else must have at least fire resistance to have a chance at staying alive. Your raid composition is also very important. As a general rule, five of each class is safe to ensure all buffs, debuffs, and mechanics are satisfied. Now to the fun stuff! There are eight total encounters within Blackwing Lair, but three of them Firemaw, Ebonroc, and Flamegor are fairly trivial compared to the other five.

The first boss fight can be split into two phases; egg phase and burn phase. The egg phase comes first and is much tougher than the burn phase at the end.

vaelastrasz guide

Make sure to have an even distribution of classes for each team. The entire point of phase one is to destroy all the eggs in the room. Pulling the enemy next to the orb will begin the encounter, kill them all as quickly as possible. Using the control orb will grant you control of Razorgoreallowing you to destroy all the eggs in the room.

While this is happening, there will consistently be adds spawning in the room. There are three different types of adds: mages, legionnaires, and dragonkins. It is a priority for each group to immediately focus and kill all mages in their corner.

The other two adds should be sundered by your warriors to generate threat. Once your warriors have threat, they should begin kiting around the room, keeping distance from both adds to minimize incoming damage.

Piercing Howl is incredibly useful here. They should head towards your tanks so that they can grab aggro. Razorgore needs to be positioned so that you form a triangle with the main tank, offtank, and the rest of the raid group. This is because he will cast Conflagration in front of him, which will burn the main tank and drop all threat. Any nearby raid members will also take damage from someone under the effects of the spell. In this guide, I will go over every boss fight in the Blackwing Lair, mentioning everything that is important to complete them.

While I will try to keep it as short as possible, some boss guides are quite complex, so this one is a bit longer. It is also advisable to bring plenty of consumables and some Fire Resistance gear. To keep this Blackwing Lair Guide as shortas possible, I will only go over these abilities once. Please note that all three of the dragons have these abilities, in addition to the unique mechanics listed for each one! Every week, Chromaggus will use 2 of the 5 breath abilities listed below.

These will be the same two for the whole week, and they can make the fight extremely hard, depending on the combination. The Core Hound will cast these Breaths every 30 seconds, and they should ideally only be taken by the tank, so everyone else should run out of line of sight when this happens. When a raid member is affected by all 5 afflictions, they will mutate into a dragonkin, which will run rampage through the raid.

Everyone who canneeds to help dispel these afflictions to avoid this. This has the highest priority. Healers, Tanks and Hunters should have priority for this.
